Humble Beginnings
In 1941, the revered Sri Narasimhaswamiji established the All India Sai Samaj in Chennai, marking the genesis of a vibrant spiritual movement dedicated to Shri Shirdi Sai Baba. This sacred organization, initially housed in a modest rented room in Triplicane, quickly grew, inspiring the formation of numerous Sai Samajams across India.
A Home in Mylapore
In 1942, the Samaj found a new home in Mylapore, a place once considered haunted. The arrival of Baba's teachings, carried by Swamiji, transformed this space into a sanctuary of peace, leading to the establishment of two Bhajan Mandalis (devotional singing groups).
Growth and Expansion
By 1943, the Samaj moved to a more spacious location, where the number of devotees and dedicated sevaks (volunteers) steadily increased. Swamiji compiled the Sai Sahasranama Stotra and Namavali, inspiring devotees to engage in regular Laksharchana (offering of 100,000 names of God). Evening sadhana classes, featuring the recitation and exposition of religious texts like the Bhagavad Gita, followed by meditation, enriched the spiritual lives of many.

Finding a Home for Baba
In 1949, Swamiji envisioned a permanent home for the Samaj. Through generous donations, he acquired land in Mylapore and embarked on the construction of a temple dedicated to Baba. The Samaj moved to the new site in 1952, and the main temple with its garbhagriha (inner sanctum) and tower were completed in 1953.
A Literary Legacy
During this period, Swamiji also undertook the monumental task of dictating "The Life of Sai Baba," an invaluable contribution to Sai literature.
Expanding the Mission
The Samaj acquired additional land in 1954, laying the foundation for the expansion of its humanitarian activities. Under Swamiji's guidance, the Samaj initiated the Sai Free Dispensary, providing free medical treatment to the poor.

Sri Narasimhaswamiji's Mahasamadhi
In 1956, Swamiji attained nirvana, leaving behind an enduring legacy of devotion and service. The Samaj continued to thrive under the guidance of its dedicated office bearers, establishing a library and free reading room in Swamiji's memory.
National Recognition
The Samaj's efforts were acknowledged when a portrait of Sri Narasimhaswamiji was placed at the Shirdi Sai Baba Samadhi Mandir in 1966.
A Golden Era (1960-1970)
This period marked significant growth for the Samaj, including the construction of a new hall, the expansion of the dispensary to include dental and eye care services, and the hosting of the 10th All India Sai Devotee's Convention.

These achievements collectively propelled the Samaj into a new era of service and solidified its place as a prominent spiritual institution in India.
